Being physically active is a great way to improve heart health. Not only will it improve the health of your heart but you will feel better too!
Ideally, you should exercise for 30 minutes at least 3-4 times per week. Below are some general ideas for getting exercise:
- Walk for 30 minutes 3 times per week.
- Take the stairs instead of the elevator whenever possible.
- Park further away from your destination and walk.
- Team up with a friend, spouse or co-worker to help keep each other motivated.
- Join a water aerobics class a couple of times per week.
- Ride a bicycle for 30 minutes 3 times per week.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Always consult your physician before starting an exercise program if you have a health problem such as heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, or asthma.
